10,000,000,000

Yeah I can see how that would be hard to divide up amongst the few hundred people that work in the NFL… F’ing LAME.

As much as I obviously enjoy football, I’m not sitting here wringing my hands that there might not be games come Sept. I’m sitting here pissed off at the ridiculous display of GREED that is on display with the NFL right now. It seriously makes me not want to watch football anymore and turn my back on the whole thing… But then I said the same thing about baseball and I still watch the Sox, so… what-ever.

In other news, my lawn has become visible again now that the glacier that existed on top of it has receded. It looks nothing like the picture at the top of the page… yet.

Scintillating reading here at mrblackandwhite.

Sigh…

Well it’s been several weeks and the pain over the Patriots’ quick exit from the playoffs is finally starting to subside. It was a disappointing outcome without a doubt, but as many people were complaining about the loss in the days following, I was able to remind myself of the Patriots’ continuous success over the last decade.

The loss was a bummer, but it is good to know that our team will continue to kick NFL ass for years to come… provided there is football next season that is… [emphasis: sarcasm]

Another season down.. let the playoffs begin

Another fantastic season for The Patriots, who are currently crushing, or should I say, squishing, the Fish 31 to 0 here in the 3rd quarter. Provided there is not an insanely crazy football implosion in Foxboro in the next hour or so, The Pats should finish with another stellar record of 14-2.

With the top seed in the AFC locked in, it’s time to get ready for the playoffs, though we’ll have to wait and see who the Pats’ eventual opponent will be.

I sure hope there will be another 3 Games to GLORY sequel in our future! I want to add part IV to my collection.

Pats will face multiple jinxes today…

Ug. What a day for a Patriots game. Halloween. The Patriots never have good games on Halloween. As I recall, the last time they played on Halloween they faced Pittsburgh and it was an ugly game for the Pats.

As if playing on Halloween was not bad enough, they’ve decided to roll out the throwback Red Uni’s for this game… WTF are they nuts? Do they like making things difficult for themselves?

Sheeesh.. the Red Uni’s are ALWAYS not good. Again, WTF. I mean, I love Pat Patriot and all that, but when the team has to win, Flyin’ E needs to be on the helmet. I can wear Pat Patriot safely because I’m not taking the field. The Patriots on the other hand, can NOT wear Pat Patriot safely during an actual game that counts..

And while I normally like (ok LOVE) 4 PM games, on Halloween, that means more bad news. It means I’ll be missing the game because I’ll be walking around the neighborhood with my ghouls and goblins, right at the time when the Pats will need maximum positive vibe 12th Man virtual support.

Dammit!

Hey, now that I think about it that Pittsburgh game a few years back was a 4 PM game too… hmmmmmm.

And, last but not least, Randy Moss comes back to Foxboro today. That’s the least of my worries. The Patriots can work their defense to handle Randy. How do you defend against a jinx?? I’ll have to get a good Patriot mojo anti-jinx going around here before the game.

GO PATS

Thanks Randy, Welcome Back Deion

Well normally the bye week is a time to take a break from football, not worry about the team, not worry about a win or a loss and hope for the Patriots’ rivals to take a massive beating while the Pats are enjoying a week off.  This year the team kept things more interesting than usual during the bye, trading away Randy Moss and welcoming back prodigal son Deion Branch.

Personally I was pretty surprised, and somewhat flabbergasted when I learned of the Moss trade. I never bought into any of that BS the press and their supposed ‘sources’ (gimme a break) tried to feed us about Moss fighting with coaches and Tom Brady. Whatever. Anything to sell some papers.. But I did have a hard time understanding why the team would trade away a receiver of Moss’ caliber for, comparatively, not much in return.

In the end, as always, I had faith in Coach Belichick and whatever his reasons were for trading Moss, I have no doubt they were good reasons and in the best interest of the Patriots. Little did I know there were more trades waiting in the wings.

The question remained, with Randy gone, who was gonna fill his void in the receiving corps? Things brightened considerably when I heard rumors that Superbowl MVP Deion Branch might be returning to The Patriots. Suddenly the Moss trade was looking more and more like another maneuver on the NFL chess board for Coach Belichick.

Days after trading Moss back to the Vikes, Branch was back and practicing with the Pats. All was well.

The team then spent the next week downplaying Branch’s potential impact in the upcoming game vs The Ravens, telling us he had a lot of catching up to do to learn the current version of the Patriots playbook.

Uh-huh. Sure.

I won’t be at all surprised if Branch catches a lot of passes later this afternoon.

With Branch’s return to The Patriots, I can’t help but wonder what might have happened if he had not gone for the big big money and stayed with the team in the first place. Would there be another Superbowl ring on his hand and more Lombardi’s in the Patriots’ trophy case? We’ll never know, but I think it’s safe to say it sure would have made things easier for Tom Brady in 2006 if he’d been around…

In the end it doesn’t matter. As Randy Moss reminded us, the ‘game’ of pro-football is a business. Hopefully business will be good in Patriot Nation this afternoon vs The Ravens.

Looks like it’s gonna be a great day for a game… sunny, low 60′s, doesn’t seem to windy.. perfect Fall Football weather.

GO PATS!!

Squish those Fish

Wow it’s the 4th game of the year I s’pose I should write something on here!

The Patriots entering the game at the 2-1 mark is not all that surprising to me. What surprised me was the Pats’ Jekyll and Hyde game a few weeks back vs the Jest.

Thankfully the team got a game against Buffalo to bounce back against, although honestly, The Bills always make me worried now simply because they are due.

As much as I dislike Monday night lack-of-sleep-a-thon, commercial-a-thon, bs-a-thon games, I’m hoping the temps will be a little cooler in Miami for the night game and that it will help the Pats a bit.

We had some hot temps last week, and maybe that helped the team prepare as well.. Time will tell.

As much as I think it’s over-emphasized, the team seems to have latched onto the ‘nobody believes in us’ mantra, which is fine by me. The Patriots play their best with a chip on their shoulder. Hopefully the young D will have the chip well placed but at the same time, keep it under control. I’d hate to see things given away over dumb penalties.

Ok enough typity typin. I’ll try and update again before Thanksgiving. Har.

It’s been such a long time, yeah

Well hello interwebs! Wow I haven’t posted anything relavant here in a very, very long time.

Since The Patriots take the field this Sunday I thought I should scrape some rust off the old blawggin typity typin.

What’s been goin on? Well I’m pretty involved with music these days and thus the bloggin went by the wayside, but my love of The Patriots remains unabated, so I’ll be typin up some of my worthless thoughts and opinions as the 2010-11 season gets off the ground.

I have a good feeling about this team this year, as I do at the start of every season! I’m looking forward to seeing the Brady air-show and our touchdown catching tight-ends. The D has some question marks but I think the young’uns are gonna step up.

Whew all this writing and I’m worn out. I gotta get back in blawggin shape..

GO PATS

I’m in the process of moving my blog from Typepad to WordPress.com.

Hopefully things will go fairly smoothly but you may see some kinks and other weirdness as I switch over.

I’d say send me an e-mail if you notice anything odd but I just realized I have not set that up yet.. well, I guess leave a comment if you see anything abnormally more weirder than it normally is on my blawg. It’s a work in progress!

Thanks!
